The summer school « Souveraineté numérique : engagement politique en contexte francophone » takes place in a context marked by growing dependence on global technological infrastructures, increased international geopolitical tensions, and the strategic importance of data in the reconfiguration of power relations between states, technology companies, and civil societies. In this environment, which is fraught with economic, legislative, epistemological and technopolitical issues, digital sovereignty appears to be a central challenge for Francophone communities and an essential lever for collective action, particularly in Quebec and French-speaking Canada.
This summer school is aimed at professionals, members of civil society and Indigenous groups, as well as the student and academic community. It is organised with the aim of promoting dialogue and exchange between academic, professional, governmental and citizen circles. The training aims to strengthen critical understanding and practical skills related to digital sovereignty, digital resistance and the political, regulatory, technical and social issues associated with it. It thus seeks to equip participants to understand contemporary transformations in digital governance and to engage with them in an informed, reflective and active manner.
